Tiree
Yesterday Jaret came home with a cute, sheepish grin on his face. He told me that he had been running errands and as he was driving along suddenly heard a loud, awful sound. He stopped to find a kitten inside his car by the wheel well. He didn't know what else to do but finish coming home. So he called around to the places he'd been that morning to see if they had, or knew about, a kitten. No one did.
So that is the story of how our children got their first real pet. (I'm not counting goldfish, even though they were plenty of work from my perspective.) :) We both think it's kind of sweet how it happened, since otherwise our children would likely never have a pet. Jaret said he already had a name picked out. "Wheel well, or Wheelie." The kids got confused and started calling him Tiree, instead of Wheelie, so 'Tiree' it is.
Here's the little guy exploring the garage with Faye lying down watching him.
Faye said she was going to be his mother. It's kind of nice for her to have something to take care of, as it spares Pierce a bit of extreme attention. :)
Our house has been grand central station since he arrived. There are quite a few pets around, but Tiree is extremely popular anyway. He's already run off once and was returned by a neighbor. Since he's going to be an outdoor/garage cat, that may happen more, so I made a little tag for his neck with his name and address. Hopefully he'll always find his way home.
