Sourdough request

Does anyone out there maintain a sourdough starter and make sour dough bread? There is, of course, tons of info on the web, but it's a little overwhelming. I'd love to talk to someone instead of wading through pages of typing while hoping to pick something that works well.

Hi Shar- I do have an easy sourdough starter that you mix, let set for a couple days and then use it all or save and feed if you like. I have some recipes I like to use- they all are in a Taste Of Home bread recipe book and I'd be glad to email or fax if you'd like!
There's nothing like fresh bread :)

Hi there,
I have done sour dough multiple times but I usually forget about it and for some reason it gets bad on me...you would think it would just continue to get better as it sits.
I have had luck with the friendship bread though....I hardly ever feed it and it never gets bad....I usually make cinnamon rolls with it and use it all up but the little bit of starter to keep me going....
Good luck!-abby

Shar, did you get what you were looking for? Aunt Cindy used to have a sourdough recipe that used potato flakes in it. It was wonderful and for awhile at least, a bunch of people that she knew were using it. I used it for awhile but I can't keep up with making bread/baked goods each week for just the two of us. I think that starter had to be fed once a week and you had to take a cup out and use it or throw it away, which was hard for me to do.
