Christmas at Mom and Dad's
This past weekend we went to Mom and Dad's for two Christmases. Saturday was Dad's extended family Christmas, though strangely, for the first time ever, he and mom were the only ones from their generation there. It was sweet that they hosted and planned this whole event for us cousins. It was a really fun day.
Then Sunday evening we had our family Christmas:
These earring from Chris were well loved by Faye
American Girl doll accessories are always a hit
Legos never disappoint this boy
Dad being Santa and delivering the stockings
We stayed over that night and Jaret took Monday off work. While we were packing up Mom asked about the kids staying over longer. We ended up leaving all three of them for another night. I got a lot accomplished at home the next day and enjoyed some one on one time with Jaret, but honestly it was really weird. Jaret and I both about cried on the way home without them, which I'm sure sounds strange, but it was just so different coming home from Christmas with an empty car. The house also was terribly quiet and empty, and we did our best to stay away as much as possible.
It was a time of very practically experiencing what a blessing our children are in our lives. Really good to think of as we await the arrival of another. We are also very grateful that empty nesting happens gradually, and that it's a ways off. :)

i have an idea, next time we try this, (having Avi, Smith or Faye) we can split it up so you get some and we get one or two :-)
Your Christmas also looked like great success. :)
That is so funny and sweet that you missed your kids so much. I always think it feels more weird being at home without the boys than it does out and about without them, because the house does seem so quiet.
